Michael C. Howley

Managing Partner


Michael C. Howley is the Managing Partner of Bratenahl Capital Partners. Prior to Bratenahl, Mike worked in the private equity and investment banking industries for several years. Previously, he was a transactor at The Riverside Company, a private equity firm in Cleveland and New York City, with approximately $8 billion of assets under management and over 560 acquisitions.

 

Before his employment at The Riverside Company, Mike worked in the Leveraged Finance investment banking group at Credit Suisse in New York City. He was actively involved in over $2 billion of transactions, including leveraged buyouts, restructurings, financings, and mergers & acquisitions for both corporate and financial sponsors. He began his career in Finance at National City Bank (now PNC), in the Capital Markets and Equity Sponsor areas.

 

Mike serves on the board of directors of numerous Bratenahl investments, including: MicroGroup and Hunt Valve. In addition, he is a Trustee of Gilmour Academy and Saint Martin De Porres High School. He is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance. Mike currently lives in Gates Mills, OH with his wife Kendra and four kids. 


Dan Kozlowski

Chief Financial Officer


Dan Kozlowski joined Bratenahl Capital Partners in 2014 and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer. Dan's responsibilities include overseeing the finance, accounting and administrative function of The Howley Family Office as well as being a core member of the investment team.

 

Prior to Bratenahl Capital Partners, Dan worked as a manager in the mergers and acquisitions transaction services practice at Deloitte & Touche. While at Deloitte & Touche, he led buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence engagements with private equity and strategic buyers across all industries. He began his career at PwC in the audit practice.

 

Dan is a member of the Ambassador Committee of the First Tee of Cleveland. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a graduate of Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Dan currently lives in Kirtland, OH with his wife Megan and daughter Emerson.


Christopher Hanrahan

Partner


Mr. Hanrahan joined Bratenahl Capital Partners in 2020 as a Partner and member of the Investment Committee. He has twenty years of private equity investing experience across fund investments, coinvestments and secondaries.  

 

Prior to joining Bratenahl, Chris worked as a Partner and Co-Head of Secondary Investing at PA Capital for seven years, where he was responsible for all facets of the firm’s secondary investment activities, and actively served as an Advisory Board member of various underlying private equity funds.  Prior to joining PA Capital,  Chris was Managing Partner and Founder of Cuyahoga Capital Partners, acquired by PA,  where he was focused on secondary private equity investment and lower middle market fund investing.  Prior to founding Cuyahoga Capital Partners, Chris was a Managing Director at KCC Management LLC, a subsidiary of KeyCorp, for four years where he led the firm’s private equity investment activities in both the secondary and primary markets, building a private equity portfolio in excess of $1 billion.  Prior to joining KCC, Chris working for Pomona Capital, a secondary firm in New York, and also worked as an investment banker to the telecommunications industry for ING Barings and ABN AMRO and as an attorney to the maritime and insurance industries.

 

Chris earned an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He received an A.B., Magna Cum Laude, from Georgetown University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.  Chris lives in Rocky River, OH with his wife, two children and two dogs.  


Anna Sary

Office Administrator


Anna Sary is the Office Administrator at Bratenahl Capital Partners. Her responsibilities include supporting the leadership team, managing the daily operations, maintaining the firm databases, bookkeeping, and serving as lead on special internal projects for The Howley Family Office. Anna has over 20 years of managerial and administrative experience as Firm Administrator at Contempo Communications and Zinner & Co. LLP.

 

In that role, she was actively involved in the management team and worked closely with the executives, while handling the bookkeeping, billing, recruiting of high-level and administrative staff, database implementation and management, compensation and benefits administration, staff performance evaluations, company morale and employee relations, and vendor negotiations. While at Contempo, she also coordinated all the signature networking events and enjoyed working with local vendors, venues and volunteers in Northeast Ohio.

 

Anna has a background in education, with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Grove City College and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Kent State University. She currently lives in Strongsville, OH with her husband and two daughters.
